Helping Others


     I have spent a great deal of my life trying to help others.  The more I read, the more I realize that there is so much to be done.  I wish I could do more.  I want to do more, but I am only one person and have a limited number of hours in a day, resources, and knowledge.  I think this is why I am drawn to business.  If I am able to be a successful businesswoman, then I can have more resources, more people working for me which gives me more hours in a day and more knowledge.  I want to make this world a better place simply because I have helped someone.  The Acton Hero Catherine Rohr was and is an inspiration.  She is helping those that have little hope left in this world.  They have done a crime and now they know that finding good jobs will be next to impossible for them.  She is helping them to realize that they have worth.  They have knowledge that can help them.  I want to help people just like she is helping people.  It fills me with great hope that I can do this someday.

     My $100 project is finished.  I made a profit of $104.65.  That is after I took out the amount for supplies that I purchased.  It was a fun project that helped get the word out about a local famers pumpkin patch.  This has also given me the opportunity for my internship for this spring.  They are expanding what they are doing with their little farm and the community.  They need help with the marketing aspects as well as the logistics of getting the new community involved.  I am excited to be able to help them out in their next business venture.

E-Myth

     I have enjoyed reading the book titled, E-Myth Revisited.  It put a story behind all the facts that he was sharing.  I am a visual learner.  Once I see how something is done once, I can usually duplicate it.  I could visualize what he was saying through the stories that he told.  The part that has really stuck with me is the story about the motel stay.  How they figured out what he wanted and accomplished it for him without him even knowing it.  I am looking at opening a business in the service industry so this really stuck out to me.  Men do not go out looking to be pampered as a general rule. Fundraising

     As I am going through the journey of learning how to become an entrepreneur, I am constantly learning and growing.  It seems very intimidating to go out and ask for money from people.  Whether it be a bank, a person we know, or someone else, it just seems to be something to be scared about.  As I watched the video entitled, "Energetic Fundraising," He went through how not to do it and how to do it.  Its all about the person, not the money.  You need to connect with the person and help them see the value of you before they will consider your business venture.  They are essentially investing in you and your vision, not necessarily your company.  I found that to be very interesting, but it makes sense.  Most business ventures are very risky as most business go out of business in the first 5 years.  So to put money on a business, you want to trust that person will treat the money with wise intentions and be frugal with it....
