Different Patches of Life

     I have enjoyed reading the book titled, E-Myth Revisited.  It put a story behind all the facts that he was sharing.  I am a visual learner.  Once I see how something is done once, I can usually duplicate it.  I could visualize what he was saying through the stories that he told.  The part that has really stuck with me is the story about the motel stay.  How they figured out what he wanted and accomplished it for him without him even knowing it.  I am looking at opening a business in the service industry so this really stuck out to me.  Men do not go out looking to be pampered as a general rule.      I am grateful for the gospel.  I am also grateful that I am able to attend a college in which we can freely speak about religion and our views.  This week in class one of our videos that we had to watch had tons of swearing in it.  I am not one that normally says anything.  My husband chooses to use words that I don't like.  So to say that I am immune would not have been that far off, or so I thought.  This guy used so many swear words, I found it hard to concentrate on anything else.  It was like he was using as a shock and awe formate.  He got his point across the first few times that he used it, but then continued using the language constantly throughout the video.  I had to turn it off when my kids got home and I eventually went out to my car and watched it on my phone away from sensitive ears.  Another person complained about the use of language and I agreed with her.  I now see that the video has been take...

     This weeks lesson was all about the customer.  If it was not for them, we would not be in business. We need to always remember that.  There are many different ways that we can take care of our customers.  So many people have even more opinions on that subject.  It all comes down to what the customer wants from your business.  If we treat them the way that they feel that they want to be treated, then they will return.  Pretty simple right? Wrong.  The one thing that is simple, is that if you treat your employees right, they will in turn treat your customers right.  It's not fool proof, but just about.  The employees need to be trained and allowed to take care of the customer.  No micro managing.  That will only make it worse.  Give them so autonomy and they will rise higher they you ever thought.  That is the ultimate way to treat the customers right.  The second most important thing that you need ...

This month has been a very trying month.  I have been working two jobs, trying to keep up with school, being a mom, a wife, holding two callings at church, and all the other hats is taking its toll.  I keep telling myself that it is all worth it once I get the degree.  I am living by that montra.  The information from the HMM really hit home.  It is teaching us about marketing and what we need to do with our future businesses in order to figure out what the customer wants, so that we can in turn, provide it.  I know that the Lord has a plan for me.  I am grateful for both of my jobs.  They have been a blessing to my family.  I know that it is all worth it.  I love that my kids get to see that hard work does pay off.  They have helped me study for my school exams as well as made dinner so I could get homework done.  My family is a great blessing.      As I am going through the journey of learning how to become an entrepreneur, I am constantly learning and growing.  It seems very intimidating to go out and ask for money from people.  Whether it be a bank, a person we know, or someone else, it just seems to be something to be scared about.  As I watched the video entitled, "Energetic Fundraising," He went through how not to do it and how to do it.  Its all about the person, not the money.  You need to connect with the person and help them see the value of you before they will consider your business venture.  They are essentially investing in you and your vision, not necessarily your company.  I found that to be very interesting, but it makes sense.  Most business ventures are very risky as most business go out of business in the first 5 years.  So to put money on a business, you want to trust that person will treat the money with wise intentions and be frugal with it....

As I was reading through all the stuff needed in order to create a business plan, I was reflecting about life.  If we took as much time trying to figure out where we wanted to go in life, would life be different?  We would need to create graphs on why we wanted to do certain things, or buy certain things.  We would use accounting to figure out what our bank accounts would look like in years to come.  We would put down all the things that need to happen to get from point A to point B.  That's a lot of work to put into what we want out of life. Then I came to the realization that very few people go to all that trouble.  Then the next question is why?  Well, the saying, "Life Happens" comes to mind.  We will have all these grand ideas about where we want our life to go and then, "Life Happens".  We do not know from one minute to the next what is going to happen to us.  We do know that we have a general direction in which we want to go....
