Getting Started
Week 2: Getting started
I love the idea of business. Not just any business, but one that helps people out in some way. It can help people with their time, or save money, find better healthcare, job training, etc… I just want to make the world a little better because I was here. So in this class, I am hoping to learn more about the small business aspect and see how I can impact others’ lives through it.
I am working on my degree in order to fulfill what I have been told to do in many blessings. I do not have the need for a job as my husband makes a good paycheck. So I am relying purely on my Father in Heaven to guide me to where I need to go. I know that I do not want a typical job that collects a paycheck. I will not feel fulfilled this way. I need to have a job in which I am helping someone’s life become better. My thoughts for years have been to teach. I love to teach but I have decided that I cannot teach in the K-12 setting. I have tried some student teaching and this did not work for me. I loved the kids, I could not stand the parents that demanded A’s for their kid who refused to turn in work. So part of me still wants to teach but on the collegiate level. This will eliminate the parents and I can focus on the students. So maybe, I will become a teacher someday, maybe not. That is where I am headed until I am told otherwise. So my bachelor’s degree will be the next step and then onto my masters.
As I go through different classes I get excited about a few business ventures that I have thought of. I know that I can do the jobs and be profitable, but is that what I want to do for the rest of my life? I am not sure. I hold very dearly the classes such as this one that will give me some hands-on experience with the market and let me see what I feel drawn to.
So far for my $100 I have made my product and placed it into a store setting. A friend of mine owns a pumpkin patch. I am making some souvenir cups for people to purchase and remember their good times. I put the idea into works on Wednesday of last week. I was able to purchase a few cups and put them together by Saturday when her pumpkin patch opened. I am going back today to see how they are selling and how many more I need to make. It was a tight window to be able to sell, so hopefully, I will see some sales. She said that I needed to keep it under $5 price point. So I priced it at $4.71 W/O tax and $5 with tax. (She is collecting everything for me and has chosen to not take any cut from it so that I can donate the maximum amount for the charity.)
