Today is the day...

As I was going through the readings this week I realized that I knew more than I thought I did while simultaneously knowing less than I thought I knew.  How can this be?  Well, I think that the older we get the more we realize that I know very little.

I'm sure that by now you are asking what it is that helped me to get to this realization?  Well, one of the things was reading the "5 mistakes people make about naming their business."  I realized that I did a good job naming my business that I have had for about 9 years.  I gave it a name that can be easily remembered, but is also a play on with my own name.  It can be transferred easily because it does not have any stigma's attached.  My company name is "Mrs. Jewelry DR".  My initials are DR, but DR also stands for doctor.  I fix jewelry as well as create what ever people what.  So in my opinion, it does not hit any of the issues within this paper.  That is what I learned that I did not know that I needed to know, but I already had put it to work.

What I realized that I did not know was just about everything else. I think that each of the videos in their own right have information that I gathered information from.  I love that there is so much information out that and that I can effectively never stop learning.

As far as my project this week, I think that it is going ok.  I have not sold as many cups as I was hoping to up to this point, but the busy season has just about started.  So we will see.  I have had other people ask me for other services, so I am thinking about expanding my business to include other things that I can do with my creativity.  It would all fall within a similar scope, but not quite the same thing.  I guess as times goes on we will have to see.  Today is the day that I will see how it is going as assess from there.  Is that not how we treat everyday?

     I have enjoyed reading the book titled, E-Myth Revisited.  It put a story behind all the facts that he was sharing.  I am a visual learner.  Once I see how something is done once, I can usually duplicate it.  I could visualize what he was saying through the stories that he told.  The part that has really stuck with me is the story about the motel stay.  How they figured out what he wanted and accomplished it for him without him even knowing it.  I am looking at opening a business in the service industry so this really stuck out to me.  Men do not go out looking to be pampered as a general rule. Fundraising

     As I am going through the journey of learning how to become an entrepreneur, I am constantly learning and growing.  It seems very intimidating to go out and ask for money from people.  Whether it be a bank, a person we know, or someone else, it just seems to be something to be scared about.  As I watched the video entitled, "Energetic Fundraising," He went through how not to do it and how to do it.  Its all about the person, not the money.  You need to connect with the person and help them see the value of you before they will consider your business venture.  They are essentially investing in you and your vision, not necessarily your company.  I found that to be very interesting, but it makes sense.  Most business ventures are very risky as most business go out of business in the first 5 years.  So to put money on a business, you want to trust that person will treat the money with wise intentions and be frugal with it....

Helping Others

     I have spent a great deal of my life trying to help others.  The more I read, the more I realize that there is so much to be done.  I wish I could do more.  I want to do more, but I am only one person and have a limited number of hours in a day, resources, and knowledge.  I think this is why I am drawn to business.  If I am able to be a successful businesswoman, then I can have more resources, more people working for me which gives me more hours in a day and more knowledge.  I want to make this world a better place simply because I have helped someone.  The Acton Hero Catherine Rohr was and is an inspiration.  She is helping those that have little hope left in this world.  They have done a crime and now they know that finding good jobs will be next to impossible for them.  She is helping them to realize that they have worth.  They have knowledge that can help them.  I want to help people j...
